The debut LP by Hani And The Eaters, its music videos, and artwork created by Karachi-based artist Ali Asghar, remain a sealed time capsule of an otherworldly period of music in Suzhou, China, where the band was born. Hani and Duff met in 2014, and three years of gigs and writing led to The Polar Route.

At a time when Hani had moved on almost entirely into electronic music, vibrant alternative rock made a rude unexpected comeback in the form of 11 bombastic guitar-driven sheddings of personal baggage. The album, produced and mixed in Suzhou, sounds like a futuristic marriage of David Bowie’s Low and Oasis’s Definitely Maybe.
